Don't Weaken Clean Air Act

In March, the Senate is expected to consider a resolution that would overturn EPA's 2009 finding that greenhouse gas emissions endanger public health and welfare. The finding is a necessary step to limiting emissions from motor vehicles and other sources through the Clean Air Act.

The disapproval resolution is counterproductive and premature. It puts the cart before the horse. Congress should pass legislation limiting greenhouse gas emissions. EPA's proper role in setting emissions standards should be considered in the context of that legislation, not before.

Please contact your senators. Ask them to vote against the disapproval resolution and to pass balanced, bipartisan climate and energy legislation.
