State Profile

Pennsylvania is proud to be part of Republicans for Environmental Protection's national network. Our chapter was chartered  in 2003, and we're making good waves across our state. We are aggressive in promoting our conservation is conservative philosophy!

The Republican Party has a long and proud history of conservation leadership.

Who started the national forest system in the early years of the 20th Century? Gifford Pinchot, who later went on to serve  twice as Pennsylvania's governor.

Which former Pennsylvania Congressman was honored by several conservation organizations for his work in protecting the Delaware River ... and was also one of REP's "environmental heroes" in the House of Representatives? Republican Jim Greenwood of Bucks County, whom we're still proud to count as a member of REP 's Honorary Board.

Which Republican members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly sponsored anti-sprawl legislation? Former State Senator and now Congressman Jim Gerlach, and former State Representative Dave Steil... both REP members.

Which member of the Pennsylvania Senate is both a REP member and an advocate of environmentally-responsible energy efficiency? Chuck McIlhinney.

GOP environmentalists have both a proud past and a strong present in Pennsylvania. Republicans for Environmental Protection intends to see that current and future generations of Pennsylvania Republicans live up to that great tradition.

If you're a conservation-minded Republican, we invite you to join REP, and help us restore our party's great conservation tradition.
